Sponsorship

Currently I'm getting some partial sponsorship from Helix RDS, but am looking for more sponsors as this level does not cover the majority of my costs in a season. If you're interested in sponsoring an international fencer then email me.

Why do I need Sponsorship?

With some financial backing I would be able to:

If I am selected to fence at the highest level I will only be able to do so if I can find the finances to do so. Fencing is an under-funded sport and competitors are expected to be self-supporting, even when representing their country. Without any financial backing it is unlikely that I could represent my country to the level I would want to this season.

It would allow me to be able to attend the Inter-regional Championships and represent Scotland North again this season. Both the British and Scottish Inter-regional Championships both require the fencers to fund their own entry, transport and accommodation.

I am hoping to attend some training camps and weekends this season to improve my skills, whilst still seeing my coach in Durham for one-on-one sessions. They are vital in developing my potential and ability as a fencer. One such event is a residential course held over the summer months.

The British squad meet weekly in London on Tuesday evenings and it is difficult for me to be there when I’m working in Aberdeen, so I must attend as many training opportunities I can.

My Goals for the 2004-05 Season

With the aid of financial support I hope to be able to achieve the following:

What Sponsorship Would Offer.

Sponsorship from your company would mean that I would wear your logo on my fencing kit wherever I fence. I would also wear your logo on my tracksuit, T-shirts and fencing bags. A lot of international competitions have television and newspaper coverage too. This would result in publicity for your company in a circle that might not ordinarily be reached.

It would be a unique opportunity to sponsor not only a fencer, but also a top national and international level sportsman. This would link the name of your company to a successful athlete in a growing minority sport.

I also have contacts in newspapers locally and articles about me are featured in the press. If I were to receive sponsorship then I would naturally ensure that this is mentioned as part of the article. Being involved with a successful sportsman would also provide an opportunity to raise your company ’s profile through press releases, which are sent to all your customers.

The added bonus of having your company's website linked from my website would ensure that it would be seen with the amount of interest generated leading to people seeing this website (see the hits on the home page).

The Amount of Sponsorship

I've calculated an estimate of the expenditure over the next season that will be necessary if I am to achieve my objectives. This includes entry fees for competitions, and travel and accommodation where necessary. Competitions are spread throughout the country and throughout Europe and attendance is sometimes required over two days, often making a simple day return journey impossible. A figure for keeping my equipment up to standard and having your logo printed onto my tracksuit has also been included.

If you contact me about the details I can send you a spreadsheet with the costs estimated for the copming 2004/2005 season. The costs are substantial. I would therefore be seeking sponsorship from your company to cover these costs. The exact level of sponsorship would be dependant on the level of sponsorship. Whether it will be on a competition by competition basis, equipment or a lump sum to spend on the various costs.

This financial support would help me develop my fencing and produce good competitive results both nationally and internationally. With your company’s help I believe I could reach my potential.

I would be more than happy to discuss this proposal in more detail if required. Please email me for further information.
